Friday Favorites: Air Jordan 3 “White Cement”

Fashion

I lied during my wedding. A question was asked during a party game about who owned more shoes between my wife and me, and I said my wife owned more. It was an obvious lie and most of the guests knew, but I had to do it to not get called out at my own wedding!

As hard as I try to tone down my sneaker purchases, I’m powerless against my all-time favorite sneaker: the Air Jordan 3 “White Cement.” If they were to re-release, you can bet I’ll do everything within my power to cop a pair.

Masterpiece in Leather Form

To the uninformed, it might be considered a crazy-looking shoe, but to me, it’s a masterpiece in leather form. There’s something about the combination of the pristine white leather, the elephant print, and the red accents that make this shoe so darn beautiful. Thankfully, pairing the shoe with my outfits is pretty easy. Many of the sneakers I own can only be worn with specific outfits or colors, but these go well with almost anything.

One to Wear, One to Stare

At any time, I always have “one pair to wear and one pair to stare.” I usually wear a pair into the ground before I switch to the backup pair. In the past 10 years, I’ve gone through multiple pairs of the White Cement 3s.  Here’s the lifespan of each beloved pair:

  • 2006 – 2011: Sole ripped off while hiking in Yosemite.
  • 2011 – 2017: Elephant print chipped off and sole started to rip while hiking in Tahoe.
  • 2017 – Present: Just brought out the backup pair and on the lookout for a new backup pair.

I won’t be getting tired of these shoes anytime soon. Hopefully, Jordan Brand keeps releasing the White Cements for years to come and I can keep stocking up on them.

    1. At the time, yeah. They were already pretty beat up and I had an extra pair so I expected to retire those while hiking
