“iPhone X or Pixel 2 XL?” That’s the question I’ve been asking myself for the past few months, and I finally answered it with my latest purchase of Apple’s iPhone X.
Ever since I started blogging more frequently, I wanted to strive for higher quality content. This meant creating engaging blog posts and using cleaner photos. It was hard to do that with my then iPhone 6S. The camera just didn’t cut it so I resorted to using my brother’s Pixel 2 XL. It’s been over a month since I’ve been bugging him for his phone so I thought it’s time for me to get a new phone with a better camera.
There will be people out there wondering why I would spend so much money on a new phone, especially when I wrote a post in the past about why I won’t be upgrading to the iPhone 8. So to those people, these are the reasons:
- I see this as an investment. In order for the blog to grow, I need to be creating and releasing quality content. This means coming up with more engaging blog posts and taking high-quality photos to go with it. There seems to be a correlation between the photo quality that goes into a blog post and the number of views it gets. So hopefully, I’ll see an increase in views and followers!
- I (still) prefer the user experience of iOS over Android. I know many people are going to flip out over this statement and call me an Apple fanboy – I don’t care. When it comes to a sleeker user interface and intuitive gestures, I feel that iOS has the upper hand. I’ve given Androids two chances in the past and they’ve failed me both times. I’m not going to risk a third time.
- I’m in love with iPhone X’s small bezel. I like that the iPhone X has a higher screen-to-body ratio. Since the S6 Edge fiasco, I’ve been waiting for an Apple phone that had small bezels.
- I wanted a phone camera that has Portrait mode. Yes, I know the Pixel 2 has Portrait mode too. Refer to #2.
In the end, I know the choice to upgrade to the iPhone X was mine to make. It took a couple of months to decide and I finally made the decision. My hope is that this phone lasts me for at least two years so I won’t feel as bad for spending over a grand on it.
How do you feel about my iPhone X purchase?
